{"id":762,"date":"2025-09-16T11:37:24","date_gmt":"2025-09-16T11:37:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stgdgp.org.au\/?page_id=762"},"modified":"2026-04-02T15:24:59","modified_gmt":"2026-04-02T15:24:59","slug":"ucc","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/stgdgp.org.au\/?page_id=762","title":{"rendered":"Urgent Care"},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-page\" data-elementor-id=\"762\" class=\"elementor elementor-762\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3c4730b e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"3c4730b\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f553267 elementor-widget__width-initial elementor-widget-mobile__width-initial elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"f553267\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Urgent Care Clinic<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9a63dcd e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"9a63dcd\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2adbe0b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2adbe0b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Division Representative<\/strong><\/p><p><em>Dr Tarun Chauhan (<a href=\"mailto:secretary@stgdgp.org.au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">secretary@stgdgp.org.au<\/a>)<\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2fad0a4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2fad0a4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Urgent Care Services have been introduced in New South Wales (NSW) to help reduce\u00a0pressure on\u00a0emergency departments.<\/p><p>These services give people the treatment they need quickly for an illness or injury that is not an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.health.nsw.gov.au\/Hospitals\/Going_To_hospital\/Pages\/emergency-departments.aspx#symptoms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emergency<\/a>, without waiting in a busy emergency department.\u00a0<span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; letter-spacing: 0.3px;\">Many of these services have medical practitioners and diagnostic equipment including\u00a0 x-ray, pathology, and can therefore treat a variety of conditions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; letter-spacing: 0.3px;\">Some examples of\u00a0illnesses or injuries that are\u00a0not usually considered an\u00a0emergency include:<\/span><\/p><ul><li>minor cuts<\/li><li>sprains or suspected fractures<\/li><li>sports injuries<\/li><li>minor infections<\/li><li>urinary tract infections (UTIs)<\/li><li>minor burns<\/li><li>rashes<\/li><li>insect or animal bites<\/li><li>cough, cold or flu<\/li><li>mild asthma attacks<\/li><li>earaches<\/li><li>fevers or chills.<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p><p>You may be eligible to access an Urgent Care Service if you are:<\/p><ul><li>a\u00a0resident living in a community located in NSW\u00a0or near its border<\/li><li>experiencing an acute injury or illness that is not an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.health.nsw.gov.au\/Hospitals\/Going_To_hospital\/Pages\/emergency-departments.aspx#symptoms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emergency<\/a><\/li><li>needing medical treatment in the next 2 to 12 hours; and<\/li><li>unable to get an appointment with your own General Practitioner (GP) or at nearby medical centres.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>How to access<\/strong><\/p><p>Please call healthdirect on <a href=\"tel:1800022222\">1800 022 222<\/a> for free at anytime (24 hours a day, 7 days a week). A registered nurse (RN) will answer your call and ask you some questions about your condition.\u00a0 Depending on the assessment made by the RN, you may be referred to an Urgent Care Service.\u00a0 If you are referred to an Urgent Care Service, the RN will provide you the details to access the service.\u00a0 Depending on your condition, the RN may recommend an alternative treatment option for you.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>Governance<\/strong><\/p><p>The urgent care committee oversees the running of the urgent care clinics and services in our region to ensure they are operating in accordance with their mandate.\u00a0 Part of this governance process to to ensure that patients are linked back in with a regular GP to provide ongoing primary health care.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Urgent Care Clinic Division Representative Dr Tarun Chauhan (secretary@stgdgp.org.au) Urgent Care Services have been introduced in New South Wales (NSW) to help reduce\u00a0pressure on\u00a0emergency departments.
